Meetings

From the church’s beginning on the day of Pentecost, fifty days after our Lord’s resurrection, believers in Christ have gathered together as the church (Acts 2:41-45). While it is important for every member in the Body of Christ to have a personal, private, and intimate relationship with the Lord Jesus, the growth and building up of the Body of Christ occurs mostly when we gather together in His name.

Christian meetings are...

FULL OF LIFE

Christian meetings should be living- that is full of the enjoyment and expression of the Divine Life which we as the children of God possess.

FOCUSED ON THE TRUTH

Christian meetings should be focused on the truth – that is we take the Bible and its revelation concerning the Triune God and His economy, the Person and work of Christ, and the operation of the Spirit as our content when we meet.

CARRIED OUT IN MUTUALITY

Christian meetings are carried out in mutuality – that is we encourage every Believer to speak Christ in the meetings. We reject the clergy-laity system whereby only one man speaks and everyone else passively listens.

EMPHASIZE FUNCTION OVER

FORM

Christian meetings are based more on function than on form- that is to say each “kind” of meeting has a purpose and is not hindered by either ritual or tradition. Christian meetings are carried out for the sake of edifying the Believers for the building up of the Body of Christ.
